6am: PT – arms

9 Jul

Tues 10th July 2012

6am: PT arms

Chest press – barbell
Lat pull down
Shoulder press – barbell
Chest press – standing/machine
Push ups
Seated Row (wide grip)
Assisted Dips
Assisted Chin ups (reverse grip)

+ I did my first run since my shin hernia in March.

I did 1km on the treadmill at 8.6 – 9.2 speed.

The lump in my shin still came out after the run.

I don’t really know what I’m meant do – do I continue to run on it, but take it easy/slow?

Was the lump always there and I never noticed it?

Aside from that, the PT was on me about my nutrition. He’s really against me eating pasta for dinner which is really funny as when you’re a runner, pasta is the pre-run dinner of choice!

It’s hard to do what the PT wants me to do, when I don’t really believe in it. (I don’t think carbs are evil).

No doubt I would lose weight if I did exactly what he’s telling me to do, but I’d also be miserable!

4 out of 5 ain’t bad

29 Jun

Friday 29th June 2012

Today I did 6.30am PT. I did TRX and it was super hard.

I did:
Single leg squats
Chest press
Shoulders
Leg abductors
Hamstring curl
Abs
Obliques
Bicep curl
+ circuit of all exercises combined, 45 secs each, no rest between exercises.

I was at failure point many times during this session. I had that ‘I can’t do this’ feeling, but that’s why I pay a trainer to push me beyond what I would go myself! I have never felt my shoulders burning like they were today. And I was sweating like a mofo.

whoops I did it again…

Thurs 28th June 2012

…hit the snooze button, that is.

Bugger. So this week it’s going to be 4 out of 5 for this week, cos I missed this morning’s Pump class.

The alarm went off and sleep won over Pump! Lol!

No matter, it’s still an improvement; last week I did 3 days, this week I did 4 days… So that means next week is my week!!!

6am: RPM (3 for 3)

26 Jun

Wed 27 June 2012

7 degrees when I left the house this morning at 5.45am.

Do you think this deterred any of the Wed morning RPM class? No, it was a full house. Jen’s classes are always a full house. And it was her last class for 3 weeks cos she’s going on hols, so I think a lot of people were getting their fix before she leaves.

Good class, hard work. Lots of gritting teeth/closed eyes action!

I’m doing good this week – 3 for 3 so far!

However… Not happy when I weighed myself at the gym and I’m heavier than last week!! Wtf!

***

I lost my gym swipey. I only noticed when I tried to get in this morning. I think Ieft it in the locker yesterday. No matter, the just issued me a new one.

6.30am: PT legs

26 Jun

Tues 26 June 2012

I slept in this morning, but luckily I woke up just in time to go to my PT session!

Today’s session was legs:

Deadlifts 3 x 10 (50kg)
Squats 3 x 10 (50kg)
Split squats 3 x 10
Glute ham raise 2 x 10
Isolated leg press 3 x 10 (each leg)

So far, so good… I’m 2 for 2!

6am: Cycle

25 Jun

Monday 25th June 2012

This morning I did 6am Cycle class. The class was 3/4 empty. It was actually pretty warm this morning at 5.30am, a comfortable 12 degrees (ie. warm = anything double digits!).

Class was good. I like it when we put the resistance up high, we’re out of our seats and the instructor shouts, “ATTACK!”. But I don’t like it when we sit back down and still have to pedal at our climbing resistance. That’s hard. And I always wonder why I’m the only one who seems to be struggling to push down the pedals!

When my alarm went off at 5.15am this morning, I got up and contemplated going back to bed. But my plan this week is to go to the gym every weekday this week. And I can’t complete 5 out of 5 if I pike on Monday, so I got out of bed!

This week I need to exercise the 3 C’s:
1) Commit to a plan
2) Train with consistency
3) Control my nutrition

***
Today I ate:

Breakfast: Oats
Snack 1: Cherries (20)
Lunch: Large couscous, roast pumpkin, fetta, spinach and cherry tomato salad
Snack 2:
Dinner: Pasta (red sauce, mushrooms, bacon, onion)

the (kettle)bells are ringin’

24 Jun

Sunday 24th June 2012

Got a gift from Dad today, he got up at the crack of dawn the other week and lined up at Aldi to get me a pair of 6kg kettlebells.

He said they were all gone in 20 minutes and that people were lined up before the shop opened like a rock concert. Lol!

So now I’m thinking that if I can do gym in the morning, then I can mix it up with a bit of kettlebells and trx in the evening.

Thanks Dad!
